Rockport-Fulton National Honor Society

Rockport-Fulton National Honor Society

NHS Preamble

As is understood, scholarship, character, leadership, and service are the four qualifications for membership into the society. Unlike some organizations, this society does not consider scholarship alone. This quality, which is emphasized by many honor societies, was felt too narrow a basis; therefore, the constitution of this national organization recognized four principle objectives. The purpose is to hold these objectives above everything else as goals toward which we should strive. In keeping them before the school we hope to induce others to seek good scholarly habits, to take part in worthy service, and to lead forward in all those things that shall advance the welfare of the school, always building up their own characters in carrying out these motives.

  • Scholarship
Students must have a cumulative GPA of 95 or higher.
  • Service
This involves voluntary contributions made by a student to the school or community, done without compensation.
  • Leadership
Student leaders are those who are resourceful, good problem solvers, and idea contributors. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others.
  • Character
The student of good character is cooperative; demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability; shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others; and generally maintains a clean disciplinary record.
